Danny Matsumoto, C.E.
Principal, from 1993 to Present
Danny received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from University of Southern California in 1978 and his Civil Engineering license in 1982. He has over 35 years of structural engineering experience.
Mr. Matsumoto’s creative solutions to unusual situations is a factor client have come to rely on. Danny works with architects to resourcefully solve problems rather than using stock solutions. An example of this was seen in remodeling a historic adobe barn. His engineering design enabled the original roof rafters to stay in place – keeping its authentic character and design intact.
Danny oversees each of his projects from conception to final construction. His experience, reliability and responsiveness to client’s needs has resulted in truly outstanding projects.

Juan M Miguel, C.E.
Project Engineer
Juan Miguel took an interest in engineering as a teenager while working construction with his dad. Even from an earlier age he had the mindset of an engineer. He was always wanting to know how things worked; taking them apart just to put them back together.
He applied and was accepted into California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering. After graduating in 2013, he started a job at Castillo Engineering in Long Beach. In 2014 he joined the ESI/FME team where he has been working since. He received his California Civil Engineering license in 2017.
Having roots in construction, Juan is able to bring a fresh perspective when it comes to constructability of residential wood framing. This combined with his knowledge in steel, concrete, and masonry design, as well as specialty designs in shoring and mat slab makes him a very effective engineer.
Project engineer is not Juan’s only job title. At home, he also holds the titles of Husband, and Father. He has been married since 2017 and has two children. Whenever he isn’t working on engineering, Juan enjoys his hobby as a photographer and spending time with his family. Juan also has a passion for knowledge, wether it be learning a new craft such as woodworking, brushing up on structural engineering, programing, or anything in between.
